When you reach the Higher Consciousness, you may not need any astrological help for your own journey.
But till THEN, Astrology may help you. Astrology, Jyotisha, was one of the six aspects of the Veda (Shadanga). What do your stellar and astrological circumstances indicate? How are you to proceed ahead? What are the things that are in store for you in your lifetime, in course of Time? How does your individual future fit in this Future of mankind? How can you proceed ahead towards this collective Future of evolution? You must know the advantages and the disadvantages of your own way, what are the bottlenecks and the barriers, what are the opportunities and the fortunes. Then you may proceed in a smooth way, towards the Future.
Your future possibilities and problems may be deciphered here, so that you can proceed ahead in a safer and surer way, with more certitude and more hopefulness, with more positiveness.
Fate is a word I do not want to use. No one should be a fatalist. The better word is destiny. It is an unseen force, which is an emanation from the Divine, the Supreme. The closer is one with the Divine, the more is the destiny under his control.
According to different schools of Indian Philosophy, one's destiny is also modified by one's Karma. To become the Master of one's destiny and karma, one has to rise above his ordinary blind ignorant self to the height of his Higher and Divine Self. This is obviously a very difficult and hard task.
What about those who can not rise to that height? They can know their destiny through Astrology, they can take precautions, measures which can modify or control one's destiny to some extent, or to a great extent.
Let us always remember what Sri Aurobindo has said :
The cosmos is no accident in Time ;
There is a meaning in each play of Chance,
There is a freedom in each face of Fate.
